Born on June 9, 1962, Sherie is survived by her partner, Jason Thaine; her children, Michael (Abdeel Jaime) Curry and Stacey Curry; and her adored grandchildren, Mackenzie and Taylin. She is also survived by her sisters, Deborah (Neil) Masterman and Cindy Newman, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kate enjoyed keeping active around the house, gardening, cooking and also venturing to any casino. She always was willing to try anything and played softball for many years in local leagues. Kate was a beautiful woman with a very loving soul, always willing to help anyone in need. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Charles Bilicki, and step mother Bonnie Bilicki. Both Mary and her husband Franklin, were very active in the Waterport community and the Carlton United Methodist Church. They were also, through their love and support, excellent role models for not only their family but also anyone who knew them. And if all that didn’t keep her busy enough, she could be found enjoying some of her favorite past times such as, baking, sewing, quilting, square dancing, pottery, golfing and traveling. Mary recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends and received over 100 birthday cards. Mary will be remembered for her beautiful smile.

  • MEDINA- Dolores M. Thering, 90, of Medina, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her home. She was born on May 26, 1934, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Albert and Jennie (Acquisto) Weber. Dolores graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1951. On October 19, 1957, she married the late Donald Thering. Together, they raised 12 children in Kuckville, NY. She worked various jobs and, lastly, retired from BernzOmatic as a Torch Tester. She was a member of the Medina Senior Citizens of Western NY, and in her early years, she enjoyed bowling and a good euchre game. Dolores is survived by her children, Eileen (Lee) Kochendefer, Donna (Steve) Jones, Edward (Lorrie) Thering, William (Elaine) Thering, Gary (Nancy) Thering, Kathleen Luis) Ortiz, Linda (Ernest) Johnson, Diana Thering, Roger (Wendy) Thering, June Avino, Gail Thering, and Donald Thering. Also survived are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.   • MEDINA- Kenneth E. Daluisio (“Ken”), 59 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss of Kenneth “Ken” E. Daluisio, who passed away on July 11th, 2024, at the age of 59. Ken was a beloved friend and a respected businessman, known for his kind heart, unwavering dedication, and immense knowledge. He was born on May 14, 1965, to the late Tom and Patricia (Dean) Daluisio. Ken was a proud resident of Medina, NY, where he built a life filled with love and laughter. Ken was the founder and owner of The Print Shop in Medina, where he worked tirelessly to serve his community, and earned the respect and admiration of his clients and colleagues. Ken’s greatest joy in life was his family and friends. He is survived by his three brothers, John (Barb), Tom (Supanee Kunkong), and Bob (Donna) also many nieces, nephews, godchildren, aunts, uncles. His special and loving aunt Sandra from Arizona. As well his special friends Pat and Alex Greene, Nick and Kaitlyn McKnight. All other amazing friends and colleagues who cherished his presence. His business will continue with his employees Micheal, Dameon, Randy, James, Alex and Mel. Ken valued every moment spent with his loved ones, whether it was at holiday gatherings, family vacations, or simple evenings on the Greene’s porch. He cared deeply for all, and always wanted the best in life for the ones he loved. Ken had a huge love for his cats, who were his constant companions and brought him immense joy and comfort. He leaves behind Lugnut, Roy, Sammy and Layla. His affection for them was evident in the way he cared for them and spoke about them to his friends and family. In recent years, Ken created Blue Thursdays- a free, blues music event for the community at State Street Park. The event was something he aspired to create, along with his friend and collaborator, Chris Busch. The event was to serve one purpose: to provide a high-quality, festival-like music event with premium talent, simply for the good of the community. The iconic ‘Blue Thursdays’ signs from his shop blanketed WNY roadways every summer. Going into its third year, Ken was immensely proud of what was accomplished there, lately drawing over 1300 people to Medina to enjoy the event. Many who travel here for the event are new to Medina, and that gave Ken great satisfaction. It made his heart sing because the event’s success was Medina’s success. Event organizers vow to continue on, keeping Ken’s community legacy alive with the music event he loved.   • ALBION – David John Kast, age 78, passed away July 10, 2024, at the Jewish Home in Rochester surrounded by his loving family.  He was born May 11, 1946 in Albion, a son of the late John Stanley and Evelyn (DeNagel) Kast and had lived in this area all of his life.

  • Dave is a member of the Gaines Carlton Community Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, was past treasurer and moderator. He served on numerous local and statewide boards and committees including council member for the Town of Gaines, Town of Gaines Planning Board, Board of Directors for Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extension and Orleans County Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau tomato and apple bargaining committees, New York snap bean advisory committee and Cornell University Advisory committee.

  • Dave was awarded the I Love My NY Farmer Award in 2006, and the Orleans County Conservation Farmer of the Year award in 2009. He was one of the original ten apple growers that partnered to form Lake Ridge Fruit Company in 1982 and served as president of Lake Ontario Fruit Inc. for 20 years.

  • He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy; his children, John (Cheryl) Kast, Laura (Tom) Kaczmarek, and Brett (Amanda) Kast; grandchildren, Kennedy (Kevin) Smelski, Tyler Kast, Sierra Kast, Logan Kast, Lea Kaczmarek, Brantley Kast and Easton Kast; great-grandchildren, Cove and Capri; brother, Paul Kast; uncle, Laverne Kast as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  • LYNDONVILLE – Paul Kenneth Beatenbough, age 98, passed away July 9, 2024 at his home. He was born March 26, 1926 in Madison County GA, a son of the late Charles Edwin and Mary Allene (Fowler) Beatenbough.

  • Paul served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1950 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Paul began his career in 1950 General Motors at the GM Assembly Division in Atlanta, GA. He joined Harrison Radiator Division of GM in 1955 and served in various engineering assignments and was named Executive Assistant Chief Engineer in 1973 and a Chief Engineer in 1981. He retired from GM on May 1, 1988. Following his retirement, Paul formed PCC Consulting Company and continued to work in his field for many years.

  • Paul was a member of the County Line Country Church, American Society of Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers and was a member and former Master of F&AM #336 of Medina.

  • In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Mary Rachel Coffee and his brother Charles Michael Beatenbough.

  • He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Walton whom he married on September 11, 1949 in Madison County GA; his daughter Deborah Joyce (G. Ronald Payne) Beatenbough and his son David Walton Beatenbough.

  • LYNDONVILLE – Sharon S. Plummer, age 79, died July 9, 2024 in Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1945 in Brockport to Charles and Jane (Lorback) Hughes and had lived in this area most of her life.

  • Sharon was a 1963 graduate of Albion Central School and the Strong School of Nursing. She was a member of the Clover ARP Church, and worked for several years at Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital as an LPN. Sharon was full of energy and had a great enthusiasm for life. Sharon was hard working and fun-loving. She loved gardening, quilting and discovering adventures with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to bring people together and happily planned parties on “The Lane”, as well as church events and many, many family gatherings. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and will be remembered forever as Mom, Gramma Sharon, Gigi, Sheri and “Annie Oakley”. Mrs. Plummer was predeceased by her husband Gary.

  • As a 1976 graduate of Albion Central Schools, Connie was a member of the Albion United Methodist Church, and had worked for over 35 years as an Insurance Agent for Albion Agencies. She was one of the founding members of the Albion Strawberry Festival Committee and worked for a few years at the Southwoods RV Park. She enjoyed camping, cooking, baking and as a Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed tailgating with the camper. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and attending as many of their sporting events as possible. Mrs. Ebbs was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Deborah Brace.

Shirley worked for many years as a Teachers’ Aide for the Holley Central School District – a job that she truly enjoyed doing. Most of her time was spent around her home gardening, cooking, tending to her chickens and cuddling up with her dogs. Shirley was well known for her “Wedding Soup” that she made every year for Christmas dinner. Everything she made was from scratch and made with love.   • MEDINA – Vincent J. Hawkins, age 51, died unexpectedly on July 4, 2024. He was born in Albion on January 23, 1973, to the late Walter and Linda (Buckner) Hawkins and had lived in this area all of his life.

  • Vincent was a member of the Jr. Wilson Sportsmen’s Club and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing pinochle, fishing for salmon, origami, shooting his guns and going snake hunting in Pennsylvania. Most importantly, he will be remembered for enjoying time with his family, joking around with his great sense of humor, and having the kindest heart.

  • ALBION – Benjamin Curtis Jones Sr. was born in Americus, GA on May 14, 1938, to the late Ella Mae and John Jones. Ben was the last surviving, middle child amongst five other siblings. Ben went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2024.

  • Benjamin “Deacon Jones” moved to NY in 1960, where he married his late wife, Geneva. They had three sons, the late Charles, Joel, and Ben Jr.(Lynn). Ben really found a place to build a family and a respectable name for himself. He worked for 35 years at Kodak where he retired.

  • He was a Deacon of St. Paul Baptist Church in Albion since 1971. He remained faithfully until he was called home. He became an active role model in his community and had a positive impact on those he encountered. Ben was also an activist in the community visiting and caring for the sick and shut in. He also took pride and joy in his grandchildren, Marcus (Trisha), Donnell, Pamela, Jennifer (Bella), Christopher, Crystal, and Anyas. He felt even more joy in his great-grandchildren, Makayla, Makiya, Emma Rae, Llyanna, Amiya, Lukas, Clarity, Balance, Mae, and Tessa.

  • MEDINA – Daniel R. “Bob” Henning, Jr., of Medina, entered into rest unexpectedly on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Buffalo Mercy Hospital at the age of 72.

  • Born December 3, 1951 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Daniel R. Henning, Sr. and Betty L. (White) Henning.

  • Affectionately known to his family as “Bob” and “Dan” to his friends, he grew up in Medina until the eighth grade, when his family moved to Lockport. Dan graduated from Lockport High School in the class of 1970. In 1971, he started his career with the City of Lockport in their water treatment department, retiring in 2006. Following retirement, Dan stayed active. He was an avid runner and enjoyed playing golf and poker. Dan was an excellent bowler and had scored thirteen 300 games in his life. A heart of gold, Dan was also an animal lover.

  • In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in-law, Gordon K. Hooker II 2018 and his nephew, Kelly D. Hooker 2008.

  • Survivors include his sister, Catherine H. Hooker of Middleport; dearest lifelong friend, Raymond (Ellen Jo) Pratt of Medina; nephews, Joseph H. (Kimberly) Hooker and Gregory D. (Renee) Hooker; great-nephews, Nathan J., Joshua D. and Michael J. Hooker.

  • WATERPORT – Maxime “Mickey” Pilon, age 81, died February 18, 2024 at home following a long illness. He was born October 16, 1942 in Albion to Arnold and Florence (Campbell) Pilon and was a life-long resident of this area.

  • Mickey was known as the guy in a cowboy hat and boots, perhaps the store butcher, or Mr. Elk but, mostly “Mickey.” Mr. Pilon was predeceased by his parents: Bud and Florence and his sister-in-law: Marilyn Pilon.

  • He is survived by his wife, Molly; his stepdaughter, Jennifer (Dan) Harding; his grandsons. Derek, Aidan and Payton; his brothers, Dick (Sibyl) Pilon, Bill (Linda Fraser) Pilon and Jim (Geri) Pilon as well as many nieces, nephews and two special friends, Brian and Carol.

  • MEDINA – Karen L. Larson, 80, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2024, with family and loved ones by her side.

  • Born to Bernice (Koch) and Edwin I. Caleb on September 5, 1943, Karen grew up in West Shelby. She had the last of the idyllic childhoods, roaming the woods of West Shelby with her siblings, cousins, and friends, attending country school, and watching her parents run Caleb’s Grocery Store.

  • Karen graduated from Medina High School in 1960 and attended SUNY Brockport. She returned to her hometown to teach math at MHS just four years later at the invitation of her high school principal. She taught for 33 years, and teaching was a great passion of her life. Her philosophy was “I can teach anyone math,” and she impacted many MHS students over the years. She was also a cheerleader coach for many years.

  • In 1978, Karen married the love of her life, Gar. They loved life together for 36 years and went on many adventures, including trips to Florida and wherever they could find a casino. They were true companions and a great match. Karen was predeceased by Gar in 2015.

  • Karen’s favorite things included: the birth of her daughter, Corinne; Gar; card games with Bette, Donna, and Sue; spending time with her children and grandchildren; parties at Amy and Art’s; sitting and talking with Bette; anything that Mike cooks on the grill; all of her nieces and nephews; going to concerts with Shelley; crossword puzzles; her home; and music and musicals. Karen loved to laugh and had a wonderful and sometimes irreverent sense of humor that was a joy to be around.

  • Throughout her life, Karen’s immediate and extended family brought her great joy and a lot of laughter. They will miss her dearly.

  • She is survived by her daughters, Corinne (Kyle) Grimes of Bedford, MA; Natasha (Larry) Saubermann of Pittsford, NY; and Nanniscah Larson of North Palm Beach, FL, as well as her grandchildren, Lorenzo Luciani, Delaney Grimes, and Dempsey Grimes, who were her sunshine.

  • She is also survived by her sister, Bette Leffler, who was her closest friend and confidante; all of her nieces and nephews, who held special places in her heart; and her lifelong friends, Sue Holland and Nancy Odorizzi.

  • In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her mother, Bernice Caleb (1996); father Edwin Caleb (1973); sister, Rita Navarra (2013); and brother, Edwin Caleb (2015).

  • Karen’s family would like to acknowledge the angels on earth who loved and cared for her during her final year of life: Tricia Trupo, Kendra Hill, and Krista Lawson. They made her days happy and comfortable, and she loved each of them in their own way. A special thank you to Tricia for everything she did to keep the dream team running smoothly. Thank you to Erin and Jennelle at Hospice of Orleans for all you offered and provided.

  • George B. Yiengst III, age 90, of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Buffalo, NY, died Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at his home in Florida.

  • Born April 24, 1934 in Buffalo, he was the only son of the late George B. Yiengst II and Frances (Borczynski) Yiengst and beloved stepson of the late Rachel Yiengst.

  • He was a retired monsignor with the Diocese of Buffalo. Monsignor was highly regarded at the parishes in which he served. He will also be fondly remembered for his compassion towards animals.

  • His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, 263 Claremont Ave, Buffalo, NY 14223. Graveside committal will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Medina at 2 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.

  • George Bernard Gerbig, 49, of Cazenovia, New York passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He was born January 21, 1975 in Albion to Bernard and JoAnn Gerbig.

  • George was a graduate of Kendall Central School, Class of 1993 where he excelled in sports. While in high school, George was a member of the golf team, played forward on the basketball team and was the goalie of the soccer team. His greatest joy of playing sports was having his father coach his golf and soccer teams. George was also President of the school band and Student Council. He was a communicant of St. James Church.

  • George is survived by his mother, JoAnn Gerbig of Cazenovia; his brothers, James (Charlene) Gerbig of Hillsdale, NJ and William (Kori) Gerbig of Manlius, NY; his sister, Julee (Scot) Hartwell of Lake George, NY and by several nieces and nephews.

  • He was predeceased by his father, Bernard F. “Ben” Gerbig in 2022.

  • Born April 4, 1974 in Rochester, NY he was a son of the late Brian Campbell and Wendy Maw. On July 17, 2004 he married the love of his life, Mary E. (Weiland) Campbell. Lee worked in construction as a project manager for Wegman’s for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and most of all being a great father to his son, Kole. Lee will be remembered as a loving husband and dedicated father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
